Obama's day: A fundraiser, a looming trade vote
President Obama has another behind-the-scenes day Thursday, as he headlines a closed fundraiser and prepares for a big trade vote in the U.S. House.
In the mid-afternoon, Obama attends a Democratic National Committee roundtable at a private residence in Washington, D.C.
Throughout the day, Obama will be monitoring events in the House as lawmakers plan for a vote on "fast track" trade authority.
The bill would allow Obama and aides to put together a final trade deal with Asian nations and present it to Congress for an up-or-down vote without amendments.
The prospects for trade promotion authority are uncertain. Many of Obama's fellow Democrats oppose free trade, saying it leads to losses of manufacturing jobs in the United States.
The House vote could come as early as Friday.
