Obama to South Korea leader: We'll re-schedule

President Obama told South Korean counterpart Park Geun-Hye that he will re-set a meeting that was put off when Park canceled a U.S. visit over the MERS outbreak in her country.

Obama and Park, who spoke by phone Thursday, "agreed that the visit would be rescheduled so that the two leaders can discuss important issues of mutual interest, including our joint efforts to counter the North Korean nuclear and missile threat," the White House said in a Friday statement.

Their meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday at the White House. The new date has not yet been set.

In the phone call, Obama "also offered condolences to the Korean people and the families of those who have lost their lives during the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) outbreak," the White House said. "He underscored that the United States stands ready to provide additional assistance as needed."
