Obama's day: Working the phones

There are no public events on President Obama's schedule Tuesday as he and aides brace for big trade votes in the Senate.

The Senate has votes scheduled on plans to clear the way for the Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade agreement with Asian nations.

Asked Monday about the gaps on Obama's schedule, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said: "I certainly wouldn't rule out conversations with members of Congress about the series of votes on the President's trade priority."

Obama's schedule Tuesday also includes a series of meetings with aides, including lunch with Vice President Biden.
