Obama's day: Trade, Brazil, Iran, and Greece
Foreign affairs dominate President Obama's schedule Monday as he signs major trade legislation, meets with the leader of Brazil, assesses nuclear negotiations with Iran, and monitors a financial crisis in Greece.
In the mid-afternoon, Obama signs legislation allowing "fast-track" consideration of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement with Asian countries.
This evening, Obama hosts a working dinner with Brazil President Dilma Rousseff as she begins an official visit to Washington.
In the meantime, Obama and aides will be evaluating ongoing nuclear talks with Iran. It appears likely that negotiators will not meet an initial deadline set for Tuesday, though U.S. officials indicate they will continue to pursue an agreement.
The president and aides will also be keeping an eye on Greece, concerned that its financial problems could affect markets worldwide, including those in the United States.
