Obama meets (and sings) Davy Crockett

President Obama is singing again.

Less than a week after a moving rendition of "Amazing Grace" at a eulogy in Charleston, S.C., Obama picked a less spiritual tune during a Wednesday town hall near Nashville, Tenn.: The theme from the old TV show "Davy Crockett."

"Day-vee ... Davy Crockett!" (The president didn't complete the verse: "King of the wild frontier.")

The inspiration? Obama spoke with a man named Davy Crockett, a namesake for the Tennessee-born frontiersman, solider, and politician who died at the Alamo, and was immortalized by actor Fess Parker during the 1950s television show.

"Is your name really Davy Crockett?" Obama asked the man at the town hall.

"Yes," he replied.

"That's a cool name" Obama said. "But you don't have that beaver cap. "

"I've got one at the house," Crockett said.
