Las Vegas lands nonstop Zurich flights on Edelweiss Air

Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport has landed another international route, this time on Swiss carrier Edelweiss Air, VegasInc reports. The leisure-focused airline will add two weekly flights to Zurich beginning May 5.

Edelweiss, a subsidiary of Lufthansa-owned Swiss International Airlines, will fly 285-seat Airbus A330 jets on the route.

VegasInc reports "the airline is expecting to take delivery of bigger A330s by June that will offer lie-flat beds in business class."

Las Vegas has secured several new international routes over the past two years, including a new route to Panama City on Panamanian carrier Copa.

Elsewhere, VegasInc notes that "Edelweiss joins a collection of small air carriers offering nonstop routes to Las Vegas from Europe." Among the other small carriers that offer less-than-daily flights between Las Vegas and Europe are Arkefly (Amsterdam), XL Airways (Paris), Condor (Frankfurt) and Thomas Cook (Manchester, England).
