United Airlines adds trans-Atlantic routes to Dublin, Venice

United Airlines unveiled two new trans-Atlantic routes Monday, announcing plans for summertime flights to Dublin and Venice.

United will add seasonal summer service between Newark Liberty and Venice beginning June 4. The carrier will fly one daily round-trip flight on the route on 242-seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. The Newark-Venice route is scheduled to run through Sept. 23.

Also on June 4, United will add seasonal summertime service between Chicago O'Hare and Dublin. The carrier will fly one daily round-trip flight on the route using 169-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft. That route is scheduled to run through Aug. 17. United also flies to Dublin from its hubs at Newark and Washington Dulles.

Additionally, United says it will add a second daily flight to its Washington Dulles-Paris schedule during the summer. The extra flight – which will be on a Boeing 757-200 – will begin June 4 and run through Aug. 17. United also flies to Paris Charles de Gaulle airport from its hubs at Chicago O'Hare, Newark and San Francisco.

"We're pleased to further strengthen United's trans-Atlantic route network with these new flights to three top destinations in Europe," Brian Znotins, United's VP of network, says in a statement. "The new service to Venice, Dublin and Paris complements United's existing service to Italy, Ireland and France, and offers our customers even more options and convenience for summer travel."
