JetBlue to be first airline to use Apple Pay in flight

JetBlue will be the first airline to accept Apple Pay for in-flight services.
That's according to my Paste BN colleague Ed Baig, who writes:
Starting next week, passengers on select JetBlue Airways flights can use Apple Pay on their iPhone 6 and 6 Plus handsets to buy food, drinks and certain onboard amenities when the plane reaches cruising altitude. You'll be able to upgrade to available premium seats, too.
How does it work? Baig tested the service in an exclusive pre-launch demonstration at JetBlue's main base at New York JFK, offering a full recap via Paste BN's Tech section.
As for Apple Pay's outlook for the airline industry, Baig writes that while JetBlue may be the first carrier to offer the service at 35,000 feet, "it almost certainly won't be the last."
"Somebody else doing it always puts pressure on the other guy," Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president for Internet software and services, says to Baig.
For JetBlue, the airline is already planning to accept payments from the Apple Watch when it goes on sale in April.
"The sky is definitely not the limit when it comes to mobile payments with Apple Pay," Marty St. George, SVP - Commercial at JetBlue, tells Baig.
