Storms knock out power at New Orleans Airport

Storms moving through Louisiana on Monday sent train cars off an elevated bridge and knocked out power to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport for hours.

The Times-Picayune reported that MSY airport lost power at about 10:30 a.m. but that, according to airport spokeswoman Michelle Wilcut, the airfield was soon "operational with emergency power."

Throughout the day some flights stayed on schedule but many others were diverted or canceled and, according to WWLT.com, power to the terminals was still out at 4 p.m.

At around 6:30 p.m. local time, NOLA Ready, the official emergency preparedness Twitter handle for the city tweeted that all power had been restored to the concourses, but many flights were still canceled or delayed.
