Southwest Airlines 737 gets stuck in grass in Richmond, Va.

A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 became stuck in the grass overnight after a routine landing in Richmond, Va.

Southwest Flight 4636 departed Orlando late Sunday evening and arrived in Richmond around 12:20 a.m. ET on Monday morning. The aircraft was taxiing to the gate when it became stuck in a grassy area at Richmond International Airport. No one was injured.

"After making a routine landing, the aircraft veered off of the taxiway and into the grass, while slowly transitioning to the gate," Southwest spokeswoman Emily Samuels tells WTVR TV of Richmond (photo here)."After approximately a one hour delay, the 131 Customers and five Crew Members were deplaned via portable stairs and safely transported to the terminal."

Crews were working Monday morning to remove the plane, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports. The incident did not disrupt other flights at the airport.

"Fortunately, that location causes no disruption to operations," Richmond airport spokesman Troy Bell says to the Times-Dispatch.
