Reserve your spot in the TSA line: This airport is testing a free program to save you time

You no longer need to pay for TSA PreCheck or CLEAR to skip long security lines at one of America's busiest airports.
On Thursday, Denver International Airport began testing a new, free program called DEN Reserve that lets travelers make appointments for expedited TSA screening.
It's designed specifically for travelers without TSA PreCheck and CLEAR Plus.
“DEN Reserve is only available to general screening passengers,” the airport says on its website. “The program provides a better screening experience for those without a trusted traveler program and creates efficiency where we have the highest demand.”
Denver International Airport sees roughly 70 million passengers a year.
"With that volume, it is important to provide a variety of options for passengers to get to their gates as efficiently and timely as possible," airport spokesperson Ashley Forest told Paste BN by email.

How do I reserve a spot in the security line at Denver International Airport?
You have two options: Make a reservation up to three days in advance of your flight through DEN Reserve’s website or try your luck when you arrive at the airport.
Passengers can see if any same-day appointments are available by scanning a QR code near the Bridge Security TSA Checkpoint. The airport recommends making appointments as soon as possible due to limited spaces and high demand.
Appointments are easy to make or cancel for of up to 10 people traveling together. No personal information is required beyond an email address, not even a flight confirmation code.
When is DEN Reserve available?
DEN Reserve is available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments may be scheduled for one to four hours before your flight’s scheduled departure time.
Passengers on any airline may use the service, but it is only available at the airport’s Bridge Security TSA Checkpoint.
How does DEN Reserve work?
Travelers receive a QR code via email to present at Bridge Checkpoint's dedicated DEN Reserve lane at their appointment time.
What if I miss my appointment?
There is a 15-minute grace period for appointments. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, you’ll need to make a new appointment. If none are available, you’ll have to go through regular general security screening.
Is DEN Reserve permanent?
Testing began Thursday. The airport will see how it functions "before it is considered as a permanent program at DEN at which point we will ask City Council for their consideration to contract with Clear for a longer-term program," according to Forest.
