Southwest Airlines' Companion Pass promotion means free flights for your plus-one

Southwest Airlines is back again with its Companion Pass promotion. The offer will let passengers bring a fellow traveler along for free on flights early next year.
To take advantage, customers have to register and purchase a round-trip flight, or two one-way tickets by Wednesday. Qualifying travel must take place by Sept. 30.
Once those conditions are met, travelers will receive notification by email that you have qualified and your pass will become active on Jan. 8, 2024.
With the promotional Companion Pass, passengers can designate a companion to travel for free with them on flights between Jan. 8 and March 8. Travelers can change your designated companion up to three times during the promotional period online or by phone.
Passengers and their companions must fly together to use the pass, and it must be linked to their Southwest Rapid Rewards account. Flights paid for using Rapid Rewards points do not count for promotion qualification.
The airline has not announced any blackout dates for Companion Pass use during the promotion period.
