11 injured after Delta Air Lines flight hits severe turbulence arriving in Atlanta

Eleven people were hospitalized after a Delta Air Lines flight hit severe turbulence on approach to Atlanta on Tuesday.

A Delta spokesperson told Paste BN that flight 175 was en route to Atlanta from Milan when it encountered the bumps.

“Delta Care Team members are mobilizing to connect with customers on Delta Flight 175 that experienced severe turbulence before landing safely in Atlanta Tuesday,” the airline’s statement said. “Our priority is taking care of our customers and crew who sustained injuries. We are grateful for the first responders who met the aircraft to provide medical attention and who are transporting the injured to the hospital.”

According to Delta, the flight was carrying 151 passengers and 14 crewmembers, and was operated by an Airbus A350 aircraft. Crewmembers and passengers were both among the injured, but the extent of those injuries was not disclosed by the airline.

Delta also said that Customs and Border Protection officials ensured that passengers who needed medical attention were processed and cleared appropriately.
