Booking a flight on JetBlue Airways has become as simple as splitting the check with friends now that it's the first airline to accept payment via Venmo.

Americans can currently choose Venmo as a payment option when buying flights directly on the JetBlue website, and the JetBlue mobile app will roll out the feature in the coming months, according to a press release on Tuesday.

"We’re continually looking for ways to make it easier to book a JetBlue flight on our website and mobile app," said Carol Clements, chief digital and technology officer at JetBlue, in the release. "Adding Venmo offers a seamless payment option for customers who enjoy the ease and convenience of the Venmo platform."

The new partnership is part of JetBlue's goal of implementing digital technology to "customize and simplify" people's travel journey, according to the airline. Last September, the airline's app added more tech features like a boarding countdown on phone lock screens.

It's also Venmo's latest move to make travel easier. The app added a Groups feature last November that automatically splits up shared expenses between users, making paying for group trips more seamless.

"Travel is not just about the destination, but the people you go with and how you share the experience," said John Anderson, senior vice president and general manager of consumer at PayPal, in the release.
