Amazing international flight deals from major U.S. cities
There are a lot of good reasons to get out of town in the coming weeks, but airfare prices are No. 1: They’re just so darn cheap. You could travel to distant lands — places you may only have dreamed about — for incredibly low fares.
These deals were found using FareCompare’s cheap flight search tool this week; all fares are round-trip including taxes and fees, good for travel in January.

But prices alone don’t make this the perfect time to get out of town and go far, far away. Here are some other factors:
Fewer crowds: No great tourist attraction is ever quite deserted but you may actually get a wonderful view of the Mona Lisa with the summer hordes mobbing the Louvre out of the picture. Airports are easier to navigate, too.
Enjoy unique experiences: Be a part of Carnival in Venice, enjoy the Aurora Borealis in Scandinavia, ski at a fancy resort in the Alps.
Plenty of time to get a passport: According to media reports, U.S. passport processing times are shortest from September through December, at least this year. If you don’t have one yet, start here.

Perfect time to upgrade security: If you’ll travel outside the U.S., consider joining Global Entry which gives you a faster return through customs. It’s $100 but that’s good for five years and it includes TSA’s faster PreCheck program ($85 for five years), which can be used for all domestic flights.

Ready? Grab your coat and remember to stuff all those extra pockets with small items that may not fit in your carry-on; you’ll bring that, of course, so there’s no chance of losing your bag.
