Deal watch: Windstar Cruises kicks off Veterans Day promotion

Small-ship operator Windstar Cruises has kicked off a promotion in honor of Veterans Day -- a first for the line.

The Veterans Day Sale, as it's being called, brings savings of up to 81% off brochure rates on voyages in Europe, the Caribbean and Central America.

As part of the promotion, veterans and active duty military are eligible for an additional $100 per person in shipboard credit. The offer marks the first time Windstar has offered a military discount.

Fares during the promotion start as low as $1,299 per person. Travel must be booked by Nov. 12.

The promotion come as Windstar is in the midst of absorbing two new ships in a major expansion. The 212-passenger Star Breeze joined the fleet in early May, and sister vessel Star Legend debuted a few weeks later. Both are former Seabourn vessels that were re-branded and relaunched after extensive overhauls in dry dock.
