Second Carnival ship in a month emerges from makeover
Another Carnival ship has emerged from a significant makeover.
The seven-year-old Carnival Dream received nearly half a dozen new venues during a two-week overhaul in the Bahamas that ended earlier this week.
The upgrades to the 3,646-passenger vessel included the addition of a Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse, an open-air barbecue venue developed in partnership with the Food Network's Guy Fieri that first debuted on the Carnival Magic in 2016. Serving up barbecue pork butt, chicken, smoked Andouille sausage and sliced smoked round of beef, the eatery is a sister to the popular Guy’s Burger Joints found on 14 Carnival ships including Dream.
Also new is the BlueIguana Cantina, a poolside Mexican eatery that offers burritos and tacos on home-made tortillas and an extensive toppings and salsa bar. It's a no-extra-charge venue that has been debuting across the Carnival fleet.
Other additions include the interior Alchemy Bar, a pharmacy-themed lounge where mixologists “prescribe” colorful concoctions; complimentary pizza outlet Pizzeria del Capitano; and extra-charge sushi restaurant Bonsai Sushi -- all three venues that also have been rolling out across the Carnival fleet.
The makeover took place at the Grand Bahama Shipyard on Grand Bahama Island.
Unveiled in 2009, Dream is one of Carnival's newest ships. It sails year-round to the Caribbean out of New Orleans.
The overhaul of Dream came just weeks after a similar makeover for one of Carnival's oldest vessels, Carnival Ecstasy. Carnival operates 25 ships.
