Photo tour: Inside Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' Bremen, a ship built for adventure
Searching for a cruise vessel that can get you off the beaten path? Our latest Cruise Ship Tour, in the carousel above, offers a deck-by-deck look at the 155-passenger Bremen, an icon of "expedition" cruising to far-flung places.
Operated by Germany-based Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, Bremen is one of just two western cruise ships to have made a full transit of the Northeast Passage — the icy Arctic route from Europe to the Far East across the top of Russia. It's also one of the few cruise vessels to have made multiple transits of the Northwest Passage, the fabled Arctic route at the top of Canada, and it's a regular visitor to such remote destination as Antarctica and the Pacific's Pitcairn Island.
As is sometimes the case with Hapag-Lloyd ships, Bremen mostly operates German language-only voyages. But some of its trips are aimed at an international audience including North Americans with announcements and programming in both English and German. That will continue into 2019, when Hapag-Lloyd is unveiling a new expedition ship that will take over the line's dual-language expedition sailings. To be called HANSEATIC inspiration, it'll debut in October 2019.

As can be seen in the tour, Bremen offers a range of amenities including a restaurant that can hold all its passengers at once, two lounges (one of which is mostly used for lectures), a small library, fitness room, sauna and one-room salon. An outside deck features a pool and lounge chairs.
