New adventure cruises to focus on Panama
Small-ship line Un-Cruise Adventures has unveiled an unusual new itinerary that focuses exclusively on Panama.
The seven-night sailing on the 64-passenger Safari Voyager includes two days experiencing the little-visited Guna Yala Islands, home to one of the best-preserved native cultures in the Americas.
Hiking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking and a stop a local Kuna village are among the activities available during the visit to the white sand beach-lined islands, which are located on the Caribbean side of Panama.
The sailing also will include a full transit of the 48-mile-long Panama Canal and several stops on the Pacific side of the country.
Among them: A visit to the remote and rarely-visited Darien Jungle, where passengers will explore the vast Punta Patiño Nature Reserve on foot and also travel the Mogue River by motorized dugout canoe. Expedition guides will lead a search for such wildlife as roseate spoonbills, ibises and osprey, and they'll accompany passengers to a stop at a local Emberá village.
The Safari Voyager also will spend a day at Panama's Pearl Islands Archipelago, a beach paradise with more than 200 islands and islets that passengers can explore by kayak, paddle board and skiff.
Kicking off on April 29, 2017, the voyages will start at $4,395 per person, based on double occupancy and including all activities; meals; a massage from the ship's on-board masseuse; transfer; and premium wine, beer and spirits.
