Virgin America brand disappears and social media users are sad about it

Virgin America, a popular airline that was acquired by Alaska Airlines, made its final flight Tuesday night. Overnight, Alaska Airlines removed all remaining branding related to Virgin America at 29 airports in the United States and Mexico where the two airlines still had separately branded operations.

The move is the next – and almost final – step in integrating the two carriers, following Alaska Airlines’ purchase of Virgin America in 2016 for $2.6 billion.

Airline employees and frequent fliers with both airlines joined many members of the FlyerTalk frequent flier community for a bittersweet flight 1948, the final Virgin America revenue flight from San Francisco to Los Angeles late Wednesday evening.
