TSA confiscates 2-foot machete at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut

Transportation Security Administration officers stopped a traveler with a "very long, very sharp machete" trying to get through a checkpoint at Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, TSA spokesperson Lisa Farbstein revealed in a tweet Thursday. 

Farbstein told Fox News you “can’t make up this stuff up.”

“It’s mind-boggling that somebody would think they could get on a plane with a 2-foot machete," she added.

According to the news site, the traveler was given the option to put the machete in a checked bag or surrender it to the TSA. The flyer ultimately opted to hand it over to the TSA.

In a follow-up tweet Friday, Farbstein showed her followers a look inside "a box of prohibited items" TSA officers have collected at the airport, adding a photo that shows a pile of knives and other tools.

"You'll notice a lot of wine bottle openers. These bottle openers have knives attached. Tip: Most hotels and B&Bs have bottle openers that you can borrow. No need to bring one," she said.
