Airbus shows off brand new A350 in Milwaukee as part of 'demo tour'

Yes, that was an Airbus A350 at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport.

Airbus has been showing off its newest passenger aircraft in the United States this week, part of a A350 "demonstration tour" of the Americas. Airbus flew the jet – an A350-900 version of the widebody aircraft -- to Atlanta last Monday. It has since continued on to Newark, Chicago and – now – Milwaukee.

During its tour of the U.S., the A350 has been viewed by employees of both Delta and United, among others. Both airlines have ordered versions of the jet, with Delta's first A350-900s scheduled to arrive in 2017. United has ordered the bigger A350-1000 version of the aircraft and is expecting the first delivery of that aircraft in 2018.

As for the A350 currently in Milwaukee, it's scheduled to fly to Oshkosh, Wis., on Monday afternoon. Oshkosh is home to the Experimental Aircraft Association's popular AirVenture air show, where the A350 will perform an aerial flying display this year.

The aircraft will then return to Milwaukee before heading back to Airbus' main facility in Toulouse, France.

The folks at Milwaukee's General Mitchell International Airport provided the above photos of the A350 while it was on the ground there Sunday. I'll try to track down some more shots of the A350's visit to the U.S. and share them with you via Today in the Sky. In the meantime, scroll down for some A350 photos from our archives.
