Fog: Southwest halts morning flights at Chicago Midway
Southwest Airlines suspended flights at Chicago Midway airport from Sunday evening into Monday morning as fog and poor visibility affected operations there, the Chicago Tribune reports.
The cancellations began Sunday evening and were expected to last until 9 a.m. local time (10 a.m. ET), Southwest says to the Tribune.
FLIGHT TRACKER: Is your flight on time?
Southwest’s cancellations come as a National Weather Service “dense fog advisory” remains in effect through noon CT (1 p.m. ET).
About 95 flights had been canceled at Chicago Midway as of 8:20 a.m. ET, according to flight-tracking service FlightAware. That’s on top of about 130 cancellations there on Sunday.
Southwest is by far the most-dominant carrier at Midway, accounting for roughly 9 out of every 10 flights at the airport.
