American flight evacuated in Phoenix after flier finds bullet
PHOENIX -- An American Airlines flight was evacuated before takeoff when a passenger found a bullet on the plane floor Wednesday afternoon at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, authorities confirmed.
Phoenix police said passengers were taken off the Minneapolis-bound flight and rescreened through security, but authorities couldn't locate the source of the .22-caliber bullet.
No other suspicious items were found and no one was detained, said Sgt. Vince Lewis, a Phoenix police spokesman.
He added that the passengers were allowed to continue on to their destination.
Sky Harbor officials said regular airport operations were not disrupted by the incident.
