Portland, Maine, gets new non-stop to New York LaGuardia on American
American Airlines will connect Portland, Maine, to New York’s LaGuardia Airport starting this spring.
The service will begin April 3, with American’s affiliate Envoy offering two daily round-trip flights on 50-seat Embraer ERJ-140 regional jets.
American Airlines is the largest carrier at the Portland International Jetport. The airline already flies from the airport to its hubs in Charlotte, Philadelphia and Washington Reagan National.
Once the service begins, American will become the fourth carrier to offer non-stop service from Portland to one of the three big New York City-area airports. JetBlue flies from Portland to New York JFK while United flights to Newark Liberty. Delta flies from Portland to both the JFK and LaGuardia airports.
“We will now have four airlines servicing our largest market, providing schedule flexibility and competitive airfares for the Maine traveler” Portland airport director Paul Bradbury said in a statement.
