TSA agents find inert grenade at LaGuardia Airport in New York
Agents from the Transportation Security Administration at LaGuardia Airport in New York found an inert grenade Monday, the agency confirmed this week.
A man was traveling and had checked his bag when a TSA officer found the grenade, a TSA spokesperson confirmed to Paste BN Tuesday morning.
Port Authority police responded, as well as TSA explosive experts. The man told agents he got the item as a gift at a museum, the TSA spokesperson said.
The grenade was found to be inert, TSA said. That means the grenade is a safe training tool that has been hollowed out so it does not explode, according to the United States Marine Corps.
The grenade was then handed to TSA explosives experts, and they will use it as a training aid for TSA officers, the TSA told Paste BN.
