New app Flytogrpaher pairs travelers with professional photogs who double as local tour guides
It's not always easy to take the best vacation photos, especially if you're a couple or small group. Someone ends up either missing out on the group shot because they are taking the picture or a stranger takes a crooked, out-of-focus picture that cuts off everyone's foreheads.
After suffering from unsatisfying photos from a trip to Paris, Nicole Smith spent some time researching local photographers and found that there wasn't one service that connected travelers to photographers. Flytographer was born shortly thereafter. The service connects travelers to local photographers, promising "you play, we capture." The photographers join the platform and create profiles for travelers to browse. After a traveler selects a photographer, they are connected with a Shoot Concierge.
For a flat fee of starting at $250, the service creates a "Shoot Route" that defines some of the places where the photos will take place. That means that the actual shoot doubles as a rambling tour, allowing the "flytographers" to capture the travelers as they actually experience the destination.
The photos are then available for download in high resolution.
The startup also encourages its clients to see the photographers as the local insiders they are, a friend "who knows all the insider tips... hidden spots, great cafés, and places to avoid!" It's that precious local perspective that makes this a really fun way to experience the destination. You're basically getting a photographer companion for close to the same price as a local tour guide — and your Instagram will never look better.
