JetBlue expands charters to Cuba, which is a good sign for the future
JetBlue will broaden its current charter schedule to Cuba, adding a Friday flight from Tampa starting on June 5, marking the first air service expansion since the recent loosening of travel restrictions to Cuba, which has led to renewed interest in travel to the island nation.
With its current charter client ABC Charters, JetBlue already flies an A320 from Tampa to Havana on Tuesdays, from Tampa to Santa Clara on Wednesdays , from Fort Lauderdale to Havana on Fridays, so this isn't a major change, but this is a good sign that the airline could continue to increase flights.
Given that many intrepid Americans are already interested in travel to Cuba, JetBlue says it will consider expanding its schedule as demand builds. With the projected popularity of travel from the United States, there's ongoing concern that Cuba could be turned into Cancun. Then again, the rest of the world has been traveling to Cuba for the entire duration of the embargo and that threat hasn't yet materialized — so sit back in your leather seat, grab a snack and enjoy some seatback entertainment. You're going to Cuba!
Or, if you don't qualify for travel yet, go ahead and check the fares on Kayak for a little inspiration. Patience, you will get there soon enough.
