Could introvert travel be the next big trend? One solo traveler hopes so. The Sacred Introvert retreat is the quiet brainchild of Los Angeles resident Lisa Avebury, and functions as a quiet space for travelers to go on a group trip while still having plenty of solo experiences — so rather than filing on and off a bus, the itinerary includes one day of activity followed by one free day. Yoga, meditation, thoughtfully-crafted meals and a trip to Stonehenge are all on the schedule.
"In the world but not of the world" and "the first experience of its kind" are how the retreat's website bills this new type of quiet escape. Perhaps what's especially revealing is how a retreat geared towards introverts is getting so much discussion — not surprising, considering the current state of travel. Right now, we never truly travel alone as long as we carry devices that connect us to social media.
