Adorable koalas teased with first-class seats before being thrown in the cargo hold

Four koalas recently put us all in danger of cuteness overload when photos were released of the cuddly marsupials sitting in the first-class cabin aboard a Qantas jet. Unfortunately, the photo shoot had nothing to do with the non-existent upcoming film Koalas on a Plane (though when I first saw the photos I did get excited enough to channel my inner Samuel L. Jackson and yell "There is a @#$%^& Koala on this @#$%^& plane!”).

Sorry to disappoint summer moviegoers, but the adorable creatures were actually flying to Singapore as a celebratory gift from Australia to commemorate the Asian republic's 50th anniversary of independence. Upon arrival, they will be transported to the Singapore Zoo where they will stay for at least six months.

The four cutest fliers on the plane were treated with all the luxury at the airline's disposal, including some refreshing eucalyptus leaves. Yet Paddle, Pellita, Chan and Idalia looked a bit confounded when offered the complimentary soft drinks and hot towels reserved for the front-of-plane gentry.

Sadly, after being teased with the promise of living the high life, the koalas' first-class fortune was short lived as they were ultimately downgraded to the cargo hold like a bunch of freakin' animals. Hopefully, they were at least able to stow away some amenities in their marsupial pouches to make the journey more comfortable.
