Who needs rewards when you can have anarchy with a Sex Pistols credit card?

There's a new card out there for the contrarian: a Sex Pistols-branded card by Virgin Money. Yes, this is the same band that railed against capitalism in its seminal 1977 Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols. And while that was the only studio album released in the band's short lifespan, it still manages to capture imaginations.

Virgin Money says that it's "time for consumers to put a little bit of rebellion in their pocket" (of course, not rebellion against big business). There will be three cards, one with "Anarchy in the UK" and two others inspired by Never Mind the Bollocks. Of course, Virgin's Richard Branson had a big hand in the success of the Sex Pistols, picking the band up after they were dropped by two other major labels. And the band's notoriety clearly helped Branson, as he explains in a video marking the promotion, saying:

I can't think of anything more appropriate than Virgin Money adopting the Sex Pistols on their credit card because Virgin Money is challenging the established banks and giving them a run for their money.

It certainly doesn't hurt that the puck rockers of the 1970s have aged nicely into their 50s and 60s, with plenty of money to spend. And for the younger generation, the punk rock anti-establishment image will always resonate. After all, there's nothing like being able to pull out a card with "bollocks" scrawled across to show your anti-culture ethos (except for, you know, not having a credit card at all).

Of course, this wouldn't be the first time the Sex Pistols have shilled for a brand — a few years ago, frontman John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten) famously milked the machine by shilling for Britain's Country Life Butter. It's so smooth!
