Ryanair wants to paint your face on one of its planes

Welcome to 2015, Ryanair! The airline is finally entering the 21st century and launching a Facebook page. To celebrate its 30th anniversary, it is promising to paint the face and name of 30 of its social media fans on its planes, which is funny considering that Ryanair previously cared so little about its customers that it didn't even have an active Facebook page until now, and Twitter account until two years ago).

The Ireland-based carrier made a name for itself by charging fliers for pretty much everything, and even went as far as saying it would like to charge passengers to use the toilet. But in an attempt to win back customers, Ryanair has made a commitment to being less terrible. The airline has improved its website, become active on social media and lowered ancillary fees, and recently the carrier even started offering nearly free flights to Greece (only unavoidable taxes are charged) to help local travelers during the country's economic difficulties.

Fans (yes, the airline does have fans, 132,000 on Facebook and 169,000 of them on Twitter as of writing — even Prince William is coming around) simply must like the airline's page on Facebook, upload a photo through Ryanair's contest app, and give a short explanation of why they believe they should have their face on an airplane. What better way to feel special than by representing one of Europe's cheapest and most controversial airlines with your likeness?

Once participants upload their photo through the app, they can actually see an image of what their face and name would look like on one of their planes. The deadline to enter the #30NAMES30PLANES contest is August 31, and winners will be chosen in September.

Even if you physically can't fly around Europe all day long, at least your face can.
