Watch this KLM flight land in gale-force winds

If there were ever an airport landing that would leave you unsteadily walking down the jetway, debating whether to kiss the carpeted ground, it would be this one. This KLM Boeing 777 careened from side-to-side, battered by record-breaking crosswinds as it attempted to touch down at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. Over the weekend, the Netherlands endured its most severe July storm in more than a century, with gale-force winds of up to 75 miles per hour.

In an email statement to Road Warrior Voices, KLM spokesperson Mini Jarvis said:

Last Saturday, all flights at Schiphol encountered strong winds and thereupon applied the relevant procedures. KLM pilots were well able to deal with it and ensure the safety of passengers and crew. KLM doesn’t take any risk, therefore safety had not been compromised.

A weather-related Code Red warning was issued before the storm hit and, according to Reuters, dozens of flights to and from Schiphol were delayed and no trains departed from Amsterdam Central rail station. The storm was the most violent in July since the country's weathermen began keeping records in 1901. All the more reason to smooch the terminal the second you walked in.
