Man who REALLY wanted to go to high school reunion arrested for running onto tarmac, trying to stop plane

Guys, going to a high school reunion causes a very specific kind of stress. You wonder what your classmates are going to think about you, whether everyone will have forgotten that unfortunate nickname you had and, maybe most of all, whether you'll have good stories about what you've been doing since graduation. Marc Rehmar would've had a pretty entertaining tale to tell at his 40th high school reunion, but he was arrested on the way, charged with a felony count of endangering public transportation.

The 58-year-old opened an emergency exit door in the Denver International Airport concourse and ran onto the runway, apparently trying to stop a plane that was being pushed back from the gate. He was trying to stop his flight, the one that should've flown him back to Ohio for an evening of crepe paper, a cover band and maybe a well-prepared buffet dinner. According to an affidavit obtained by Reuters:

Rehmar did then run out of the door into a sterile area of the airport and chased down on foot, a tug and tug driver who was actively engaged in pushing back [...] an aircraft filled with passengers.

It's probably safe to say that the real-life situation didn't end the way he planned it in his head. After forcing the tug driver to stop, Rehmar allegedly asked to board the plane. But the driver didn't slap him on the back and say something quotable like "If you had something to prove to your classmates, you just did it" before waving to the pilot to allow him on board.

Instead, Rehamer was promptly arrested and charged with that felony, along with a misdemeanor count of hindering transportation. He is currently free on $10,000 bond and will be due back in court later this week.

See you at the 50th reunion, Marc.
