Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is finally offering free Wi-Fi
Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, the luxury hotel group that can comfortably charge rack rates of $500+ per night, announced on Tuesday that it is finally giving guests access to free Wi-Fi at all of its properties.
There's no limit to the number of devices people can connect, and anyone stopping into the bar, hotel, spa or even lobby at any Four Seasons property can also take advantage of the free internet. Numerous Four Seasons properties have offered complimentary access since 2012, but now it is a brand standard. The only places excluded are India and China, due to local regulations, according to the hotel group. "Remote locations" where Internet access is more difficult to come by also have complimentary Wi-Fi, but might limit the number of devices guests can connect or require them to log in, a Four Seasons spokesperson explained.
Guests can be sure to have access to a "brand standard" of 1.5 mbps, according to a spokesperson. Those looking to do more involved work online would want to buy the Four Seasons' "premium service" at 20MB. Prices vary based on location, the spokesperson told us.
Before the change, guests had to use a different login for various locations at a single property. Now they connect once and stay connected wherever they are in the hotel. And the Wi-Fi service is updated and faster too, according to Four Seasons.
As Scott Taber, the group's senior VP of Rooms (yes, that's a real title) stated in the press release:
“We have introduced new global standards to give Four Seasons guests a seamless, convenient and higher quality internet experience, whether staying with us, using our mobile app or visiting the public areas of our hotels and resorts."
Four Seasons isn't the first major chain to offer free Wi-Fi, but unfortunately complimentary internet at expensive properties still isn't quite an industry standard. Still, we're happy to see another major player fully get with the times.
Meanwhile, in June the hotel group rolled out an app which guests can make and manage reservations, check in and out, customize their stay with requested services and also peruse local recommendations right from their cell phones. Welcome to 2015, Four Seasons. We're happy to have you.
