These hotels elevate the in-room entertainment experience

While we often travel to explore a destination, there's no denying the hotel we choose can make or break our experience. And for those days when you just don't feel like getting dressed, the following properties offer comfortable accommodations with elevated in-room entertainment experiences, too.

1. The Envoy Hotel (Boston, Massachusetts): This newly-opened property features in-room EcoSmart televisions that double as design pieces, and a digital concierge equipped with Enseo technology, meaning instant internet access as well as Netflix and Hulu programming. The televisions feature Dynamic Power Saving technology for a green edge. In the Premier Suite, a TV screen is hidden in a mirrored wall partitioning the bedroom from the living room, acting as a floor-to-ceiling reflective wall when the TV is off, and as entertainment when on.

2. Rosewood San Miguel de Allende (San Miguel de Allende, Mexico): To pay homage to San Miguel de Allende's cultural richness and UNESCO World Heritage Site status, this property offers a special amenity in select suites and Private Residences: an easel, apron, paint and art tools (although any guests can purchase the kit for $54). Other in-room options include high definition television, free Wi-Fi and — in the private residences — 48” televisions with private cable reception, iPod docks, Nespresso coffees and access to a DVD library.

3. Hard Rock Hotels (Various): Through Hard Rock Hotels' Sound of Your Stay program guests can personalize their in-room music experience, free of charge, via three components: playlist download at check-in (TRACKS), Fender guitar rental from a collection of more than 20 (PICKS), and professional DJ equipment and mixing lessons (MIX). This is along with other entertainment options like complimentary Wi-Fi, televisions, copies of Rolling Stone, Hard Rock TV and chromotherapy lighting (at certain properties).

4. Starwood Hotels & Resorts (Various): Just this month Starwood announced an official partnership to provide guests with free access to DIRECTV’s 2nd generation headend platform and the DIRECTV Residential Experience (DRE). The goal is to make guest rooms feel more like living rooms. Rooms have almost 100 HD channels, special sports programming (including coverage of the four major sports leagues and DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket), DVR and an on-screen program guide. Sheraton will be the first hotel to roll out the new offering, which should be completed by the end of 2016 along with free access to MLB.tv.

5. Adaaran Prestige Water Villas(Raa Atoll, Maldives): Luxury travelers won't ever need to leave their rooms if they stay in the property's Adaaran Prestige Water Villas, which sit above the Indian Ocean with translucent glass floors. Along with a personal chef and butler, rooms include a home theater system, satellite TVs with movies, in-room massages, high speed Wi-Fi, and a deck with a spa tub and direct ocean access.

6. The Redbury Hollywood (Los Angeles, California): For a bit of nostalgia, The Redbury Hollywood's rooms feature a Capitol Records-curated vinyl collection (their headquarters is down the street) crafted based on the guest's favorite album. Guests also stay entertained in-room with free Wi-Fi and a tailored DVR programming and television option that includes the property recording your favorite shows from home and has them waiting for you upon arrival.
