Accor Hotels promises better in-room TVs with Samsung deal

The in-room TV experience at some hotels still leaves a lot to be desired, especially since most of us have much better gear at home. Thankfully hotels are finally arriving in the connected future, offering an enhanced entertainment experience or even creating their own content studio to deliver top-notch media and marketing to guests. Now Accor Hotels is getting in on the action, linking up with Samsung to provide next generation televisions to its guests.

The partnership means that the Paris-based hotel chain will feature ultra high-definition televisions throughout its properties, not just in guest rooms. The televisions also tie into Samsung's unique LYNK Hospitality Management platform, allowing property managers to communicate directly with guests using custom interfaces and personalized content.

The interface also gives guests more granular control over the in-room environment — such as lighting and air conditioning. In another win for the streaming amongst us, the system will feature an updated video-on-demand offering that includes streaming components, as well as remote print technology.

Samsung has also committed to working with Accor on an experimental hotel in Seoul, South Korea, where the hotel brand will work hand-in-hand with the technology conglomerate to explore new technologies and forward-looking guest experiences driven by connectivity. We've already got robots taking over hotels — what could be next?
