4 Credit card promotional offers to watch for in the new year
Credit card companies know that earning your business is easier when there are a few promotions to lure you in and keep you interested. Here are some of the latest and greatest (but, as always, these offers won’t stick around forever).
Get free two-day shipping. Select American Express cards are now eligible for free a ShopRunner membership. The service delivers online purchases from more than 100 stores like Neiman Marcus and Beauty.com in just two days — with no extra charge. Only U.S. consumer and small business cards are eligible, and registration is simple.
Give the gift of lounge access. If you hold the Citi/AAdvantage Executive World Elite MasterCard, it might be time to consider adding a few authorized users. Both cardholders and authorized users now get access to American Airlines lounges, and as long as authorized users have their own cards, the primary cardholder does not need to be present. Lounge access makes an amazing gift for fellow road warriors.
Score huge bonuses on your local commute. Chase Freedom cardholders get 5% cash-back bonuses each quarter (up to $1,500) for a rotating variety of categories. Or if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred, you could earn 5x the points by transferring Chase Freedom points to Ultimate Rewards. For the first quarter of 2016, cardholders get 5 times the normal value for spending at gas stations and commuter transportation, which means you can get 5% back for using Uber, taxis or even the subway.
Save $60 on your next hotel stay. If you use your American Express card to charge more than $300 towards Hilton hotel rooms in the U.S. between now and April 11, you'll be rewarded with a $60 statement credit. To enroll, log into your American Express account and look for it under "My Offers," or simply Tweet #AmexHilton to register.
