Easter and spring break holidays collide for extra busy travel days

This year, travelers may find the perfect storm swirling at the end of March. And this storm does not include snow or ice. In fact, it is the opposite: lots of sunshine. With Easter falling a bit earlier on the calendar than usual, it coincides with the typical Spring Break period for most schools. This could mean that travel during the last two weeks of March could be especially busy, says travel expert Chris McGinnis of Travel Skills.

Fuller planes could mean higher airfare during this period. McGinnis points out that major hubs with flights to warm-weather destinations, as well as cities with large concentrations of colleges and universities, could be especially hard hit.

With more families likely traveling, business travelers may find airline lounges packed with kids, and upgrades may be harder to come by since many travelers may be redeeming miles for a family vacation.
