Wednesday's forecast: Grab your umbrella
The Northwest will have the nation's stormiest weather on Wednesday. Snow is likely in the northern and central Rockies while rain will make for a dreary day in northern California and parts of Oregon, Idaho and Utah. Cold temperatures will add to the dismal conditions.
The Upper Midwest and central Mississippi Valley will see a few scattered showers, while Florida also contends with rain and occasional thunderstorms.
The Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and South will be clear and dry, as will be most of the Southwest.
Weather history for Nov. 20: In 1798, a huge snowstorm pounded the Northeast and New England, burying houses in snow. In 1953, several days of smog (from Nov. 10-20) choked New York City. Hundreds of people became ill as a temperature inversion trapped pollutants over the city.
In 1981 in Atlanta, a small tornado at Hartsfield Airport damaged several planes and injured 5 people.
