Thursday's forecast: Grab your gloves

Most of the nation will again be quiet but chilly on Thursday. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic will see their coldest temperatures of the season so far, with highs only in the 10s and 20s.
Heavy lake-effect snow will continue to hammer the Great Lakes region, with Michigan and New York State seeing the most snow.
In the Pacific Northwest, coastal rain and mountain snow will impact Washington and Oregon.
Elsewhere, a few scattered showers are possible in south Florida, while snow showers will fly in the mountains of the Southwest.
Weather history for Dec. 12: In 1960, a big snowstorm hit the Northeast, with 20 inches reported in Newark, N.J. In 1969, a waterspout moved ashore in Kent, Wash., injuring 1 person.
In 1995, a monster storm hit the Pacific Northwest and northern California, bringing 119 mph winds to Sea Lion Caves, Ore., and more than a foot of rain to Marin, Calif. In 2007, the temperature soared to a record high of 82 degrees in New Iberia, La.
