Look out! Falling ice hits Serbian official
File this one under the importance of helmet safety.
Serbia's energy minister, Aleksandar Antic, was touring a part of Serbia where cold weather and ice storms left people without electricity, when his protective helmet was hit by a large icicle that appeared to fall from a power grid, the Associated Press reports.
The video that shows the incident, below, says he was nearly killed. We're not sure if he would have been killed or perhaps injured, but regardless, the helmet certainly saved him from some serious damage to his head.
A bit disoriented, Antic said: "As you could have seen now, this is the best possible way to illustrate under which conditions people are working here," the AP reported.
The ice storm has crippled parts of central Europe, bringing down power lines, disrupting train services and turning trees into abstract ice sculptures, the International Business Times reported.
