Thursday's forecast: Snow moves into Great Lakes
The national weather forecast for Thursday, January 29 calls for light snow in the Great Lakes, and showers through the Ohio and Tennessee valleys.

Another storm will bring a mix of messy weather to the Northwest while showers begin to move into the Southwest.
Northeast: Snow is likely Thursday in much of the Northeast, while cold rain and a wintry mix pelts the lower Great Lakes and Ohio Valley.
Southwest: Afternoon showers will be welcome in parched southern California and the Desert Southwest. Mountain snow will whiten the Sierra and southern Rockies.
Weather history for Jan. 29: In 1940, Richmond, Va., fell to -12 degrees, its all-time record low temperature. In 2009, Melbourne, Fla., soared to a record high of 87 degrees.
