Friday's forecast: Frigid East, messy storm central U.S.

The eastern Seaboard and Southeast remains very cold on Friday while a messy storm slogs through the central U.S.

East Coast: Frigid to chilly air will continue to plague the Eastern Seaboard, all the way from New England to Florida. Temperatures will be far below average, with highs only in the teens and 20s for much of the region.

Central U.S.: A messy mix of snow, rain and freezing rain will plague much of the central U.S. from the Upper Midwest to the Gulf Coast.

West: The Southwest and West Coast will continue to mild, dry pattern. Some snow will fall in the central and northern Rockies.

Weather history for Feb. 20: In 1995, Los Angeles set a February record high temperature of 95 degrees. In 2008, the temperature dropped to a record low of -33 degrees in Grand Forks, N.D.
