A wet -- but not white -- Tuesday is on tap for parts of the East while mostly clear skies rule the West.

East: Rain will spread from the South into the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday. Some flash flooding is possible where the rain is heaviest in eastern Texas and the lower Mississippi Valley. Showers are likely in Florida, though temperatures will be in the warm 80s.

West: Other than some light showers in far west Texas and New Mexico, most of the rest of the western half of the country will be clear and mild.

Weather history for March 10: In 1960, a winter storm dumped two feet of snow in Kentucky, 22 inches in Tennessee and 15 inches in Virginia. In 2006, record high temperatures were set in Baltimore (77 degrees) and Atlantic City (76 degrees).
