Wednesday's forecast: Rain for South, Northwest

The two damp parts of the country on Wednesday will be the Southeast and the Northwest.
South: A soggy, mostly cloudy day is on tap across portions of the Southeast and especially along the Gulf Coast, where the rain should be heaviest and flash flooding is possible. Scattered showers will also dampen Florida.
West: Most of the Pacific Northwest, all the way down to northern California, will see a wet day on Wednesday, which is actually good news for the dry region. The Southwest and southern California will be sunny and warm.
Central U.S.: Other than the rain in Texas, most of the middle third of the country will be clear and dry on Wednesday.
Northeast: Some light snow showers are possible in northern New England and upstate New York.
