Thursday's forecast: Soggy in the South

The last full day of winter will see plenty of soggy skies and even a few snowflakes thrown in.
South: A damp, dreary day is forecast in the Deep South and Southeast. The heaviest rain is expected in Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. Some thunderstorms and hail are possible in portions of the central and southern Plains.
West: Snow and rain showers are likely in the central and southern Rockies. A few sprinkles could fall in the Pacific Northwest.
East: By very late in the evening, and especially into Friday, some rain, snow and freezing rain could fall in the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic.
Weather history for March 19: In 1993, the temperature dipped below zero in both Buffalo (-1 degree) and Binghamton, N.Y. (-7). In 1996, more than a foot of snow fell in parts of Indiana, knocking out power to 200,000 people.
