Friday's forecast: Soggy Southeast, mostly nice elsewhere

Friday will see quiet weather for most of the country, with the one exception being the soggy Southeast.
Southeast: Heavy rain will drench the Carolinas on Friday, easing drought conditions but potentially leading to some flooding. Wind-driven waves will pound the coast. Lighter rain will soak Tennessse, Kentucky, Alabama and Georgia. Thunderstorms will also rattle portions of Florida.
West: Most of the western third of the nation will see clear skies, other than western Washington, where a few sprinkles are likely. Temperatures will be very warm, with highs soaring into the 80s and 90s in many spots.
Plains: Clear skies will rule most of the central U.S. A couple of showers could dampen eastern portions of Nebraska and Kansas along with far southern Texas.
