Heavy rain will drench the East Coast Friday while a few showers are likely in the Rockies.

East: The main weather action Friday will be along the eastern seaboard, where rain will fall all the way from New England to Florida, thanks to a cold, nor'easter storm. The heaviest rain will be in the mid-Atlantic, especially in the Carolinas and Virginia.

That same area will also see torrential rain over the weekend, potentially leading to historic flooding.

Central U.S.: Pleasantly cool and clear weather is likely in the upper Midwest. Western portions of the Plains will see some showers.

West: Rain is likely in the northern Rockies. The rest of the West will be clear and dry, though some light showers will fall in western Washington.
