Wednesday's forecast: Stormy Southwest, calm elsewhere

Other than some storms in the Southwest, most of the nation should see quiet weather on Wednesday.

West: Showers and thunderstorms could lead to flash floods in the Southwest and southern Rockies. The heaviest rain will be in New Mexico and far western Texas. Some showers are also likely in western Washington and Oregon.

Central, eastern U.S.: Clear, calm conditions are expected for most of the central and eastern U.S., with temperatures about average for this time of year. A few showers are likely in southern Florida.
